DC’s Chinatown is a diverse area located centrally around 7th and H Streets NW. It is home to an annual Chinese New Year’s Parade, the Friendship Arch, and the Verizon Center. The original Chinatown was near Pennsylvania Avenue, but relocated here in the late 1930s with the construction of the Federal Triangle Project. The area today is full of bars and restaurants, with more than 20 Chinese and Asian restaurants, and with Penn Quarter just south on 7th Street NW. This is a very lively area of town, where street musicians and performers can be enjoyed on weekends. See Chinatown for yourself by exiting at the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro Station.
